What an action packed World Book Day we had at St. Joseph’s. This year we tried something completely new from the traditional dress up as a character from a book although pupils were free to do so if they wished.
All children from all classes were split into their House Teams and colours and visited each class for a 30 minute storytelling and group activity based learning activity. It was so lovely to see the spread of age range all collaborating, being creative, problem solving and having fun together in a whole school carousel activity.
The books the children got to listen to and enjoy were The Magnificent Thing; The Smartest Giant in Town; Room on the Broom; The Tiger Who Came to Tea; Once Upon an Ordinary School Day; The Day the Crayons Quit and The Gruffalo. All of our staff put in a tremendous effort to make each session fully immersive and interactive and we especially thank Mrs Russell, Literacy Coordinator for having the vision and putting the plan into action. 👏👏👏
