Hill-Walking in Kilbroney Park!
P6 pupils recently headed off to Kilbroney Park where we got the chance to climb to Cloughmore ("the big stone"). Weighing 30ton and sitting approx. 1000ft above Rostrevor it is claimed that it was thrown by Finn Mac Cool during a fight with a Scottish Giant. Along the way we climbed beautiful forest paths and heard interesting stories about the habitats and nature that live in the forest from our guides, Phil and Colm. When we made it to the top we enjoyed lunch in special tents and even had a go at moving the huge stone! To top it off we enjoyed hot chocolate as we looked out at the fantastic views. Many thanks to Phil and Colm for taking us and to the weather for staying dry!
