Bright Stars Enterprise

14th Dec 2016

The pupils of P7 have been invited by the Young Enterprise to participate in the Business Beginnings Programme. They are developing the skills of teamwork and the programme requires the children to set up their own business, produce a product, market it to their selected target group and organise and attend a sales event.Over the past few weeks the pupils have been engaged in setting up their own company which they have named "Bright Stars Enterprise." The aim of their company is to make and sell a range of gifts for the Christmas market. The pupils elected three Managing Directors who will jointly share the operational roles of the company. Their names are Conal Hanratty, Eimear McEvoy and Sorcha Reel. The other main roles within the company are as follows: Sales Manager & team, Marketing Manager & team, Finance Manager & team, Production Manager & team and the Events Manager & team. Mary Kate and Paige made an impressive presentation to Mr Meehan and Mr Thornton of the PTA for a loan of £100 to purchase the necessary resources so that production could begin. Their request was granted, materials purchased and production was started. The products include decorative logs and jars as tea-light holders and vases. Cooperation, enthusiasm and artistic ability was very evident in the work of all these young entrepreneurs. The company is marketing their products to parents and grandparents and many were sold at the jumble sale and Carol Service. Some of the children will also be attending an event organised The Quays on Thursday 15th where their products will be on sale. We hope to see many of our family members and friends of St. Joseph's at The Quays to show their support and buy the wonderful products!
